This life we were given did not come with an instruction manual. Yet there is much that we as a species now collectively know about the human experience. Between science, modern psychology, the world's great wisdom traditions and the combined experiences of people from cultures around the world, most of the answers to the questions we all confront as we move through life are now potentially at our fingertips. If we each had individual access to the knowledge that we as a species actually possess about ourselves, the world would be a different and much better place. The potential integration and access to all of this knowledge is the ultimate promise of the Internet. The challenge is to organize this knowledge into a central knowledgebase, to separate the wheat from the chaff, and to enable the testing, validation and cross-fertilization of ideas across geographical, academic and cultural boundaries.

This is the goal of the Knowsys Project, now made possible by KnowledgeFilter Inc's KnowledgeCenter Software.

KnowledgeCenter Software  is a self-organizing system designed to allow people to share, combine, access and validate knowledge from a variety of perspectives. The system works by allowing individuals to post information, and then allowing others to evaluate the quality of the information and add their own unique perspectives and experiences. The resulting data is used to re-organize this continuously expanding body of knowledge in such a way that the most valuable or reliable information rises to the top of each topic posting list. The postings are accompanied by pro & con commentary which is automatically sorted by agreement level and presented in a way that allows both sides of controverisla issues to be effectively evaluated.  Multi-criteria ratings allow users to custom sort information in ways that most closely match their individuals needs.

The KnowSys knowledge system uses this powerful new technology to create a living, self-organizing gathering place for humankind's collective self-knowledge. This collaboratively-generated "Owner's Guide to the Human Mind/Body/Spirit"  is being created by collaboratively combining scientific knowledge, traditional wisdom, emerging self-help and personal empowerment technologies with the personal experiences of thousands of people who we hope will eventually contribute to, and use this site. The system is being seeded with knowledge provided by experts in a variety of fields.

In addition to its goal of providing easy access to the rapidly emerging picture of who we are and how we can reach our highest potential as human beings, the KnowSys project aspires to provide a forum for the cross-fertilization of ideas across scientific and philosophical boundaries.  The KnowSys vision is to integrate all the major approaches to understanding the human experience, from the perennial wisdom of the world's major spiritual traditions to pioneering self-help technologies and the latest scientific discoveries, and to make the resulting knowledgebase as simple to use as it is powerful.

How the Technology Works

The heart of the KnowSys knowledge system is KnowledgeFilter Software, a powerful new software system designed for the large scale collaborative sharing, filtering and organization of knowledge. The system allows material contributed or suggested by users to be automatically combined, organized, annotated, sorted and filtered by feedback from other users.

The body of content grows and re-organizes itself in response to user contributions and feedback. As a result, the perspectives that the most people find useful move toward the top of each list of material posted under a given topic. User generated links and comments provide alternate perspectives, explanations, supporting contributions and additional resources.

Although the KnowSys Project will be open to content contributions from anyone who would like to submit content or links for collaborative filtering, we hope to secure sufficient initial funding to enlist a staff of experts to seed the project with interesting and useful content. The project will thus begin as an interactive encyclopedia drawing on knowledge and wisdom from many traditions as well as from the cutting edge of science. The initial body of content will be filtered, expanded and further developed by contributions and feedback from other users. The number of topics will grow and expand automatically like the discussion threads in a discussion forum, with the key distinction that less valuable postings will drop to the bottom of long lists of material on each topic, causing the most valued ones to rise to the top. A more sophisticated user interface now being developed, will make the large body of knowledge and wisdom that the system collects and filters accessible through a plain language "query routing system". Explore and Contribute

To access and explore this collaboratively generated and edited "Owner's Guide to the Human Mind/Body/Spirit, click here and browse or search for the topic you are interested in. The content database is still in a very early stage of development. We hope to be able to build a more complete body of initial content as soon as we get some seed funding.

To contribute content to the Wisdombase Knowledge Center, click here and submit your perspectives, pro and con commentary on other people's perspectives, rate content to help others identify the most useful or accurate information, or begin new topics and contribute content.

To determine which postings are the most valuable, accurate or have drawn the most highly rated comments from other users, sort the postings under any topic by the sorting criteria most relevant to you. This will cause the most valuable contributions to bubble to the top of each list of perspectives on a topic. explore and contribute now
